Chapter 12 - Living as a Cathedral of Awe: A Daily Blessing for Myself
From the book, Living as a Cathedral of Awe
Living as a Cathedral of Awe Book
I am not here to conquer life.
I am here to open to it.
I am not here to build fortresses against fear.
I am here to build cathedrals of awe.
I am not here to survive by shrinking.
I am here to flourish by expanding.
Each morning, I bless myself:
May I remember that flourishing is my inheritance, not a prize I must earn.
May I meet the bigness of life with awe, not fear.
May I honor the cathedrals of wonder rising within me, stone by sacred stone.
May I trust that even when fear visits, awe has already made its home in me.
May I hold micro-moments of goodness as seeds of transformation,
planting them deep, watering them often.
May I breathe fully, live gently, expand courageously.
May I offer myself — and others — the clarity, dignity, and belonging we all deserve.
When fear comes — and it will —
I will not banish it with violence.
I will greet it with compassion,
then turn again toward awe.
When uncertainty looms — and it will —
I will not armor up against it.
I will stretch my hands open to it,
trusting that wonder will find me there.
When old wounds whisper — and they will —
I will not shame myself for hearing them.
I will listen kindly,
then walk forward with a heart wiser, not harder.
I am a living cathedral of awe.
Worn, weathered, and wondrous.
Not perfect.
But real.
Sacred because I have chosen to be.
I carry within me the architecture of flourishing —
patiently built,
lovingly expanded,
daily renewed.
And so today,
I bless this journey:
of remembering,
of returning,
of rebuilding myself not as who I was taught to be —
but as who I was always meant to become.
